Haywyck Meadows NeighborWoods

October 3, 2020, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

While TreesCharlotte strives to celebrate, expand, and protect the tree canopy in Charlotte, we also want to protect the health of our supporters, volunteers, and partners from risks associated with COVID-19.  We appreciate your continued interest in volunteering with us even in these difficult times. Please read through our new event protocols here before registering.

Having completed a NeighborWoods Application  TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Haywyck Meadows neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas and to provide trees to their residents. Volunteers, please scroll down for details.

We will conduct a drive-thru TreeStore at the Haywyck Meadows pool parking lot on Sat, Oct 3, for residents to pick up and plant trees in their own yards! What a great way to add more shade and beauty to your neighborhood.

Residents, here’s what you need to know:

  • Each Haywyck Meadows household can get up to 3 trees, with a limit of 2 of the same species per household.
  • You must pre-register for the trees. Registration opens 12:01am Fri, Sept 25 (link below available species), and closes at 11:59pm Tues, Sept 29.
  • The cost is $10/tree (plus fees). Each tree comes with a bag of mulch.
  • You will need to pick up your trees at the Haywyck Meadows Pool, on Sat, Oct 3, between 9-10:00 a.m. This will be a largely drive-through event to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch. If you cannot make this window, please make arrangements with a neighbor to get your trees.
  • About the trees: The trees are in 7-gallon containers, measure 6-15 feet tall, and weigh about 20-25 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag. Links are provided below to learn more about each species available; please do your homework first to ensure you’re putting the right tree in the right place.  Once registered, your selections are final.
  • TreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select. Tree planting is not provided.

You’ll be able to choose from the following trees when you register (registration link below opens at midnight Sept 25). Quantities are limited. Register early to ensure the best selection.

Selections are final and once registered, cannot be changed.  Be sure to research which tree will work best for your yard before registering.

Registration will open Sept 25

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

20 volunteers are needed on the morning of Oct. 3 to help plant trees in the common areas and manage the TreeStore.  Register early as our events “sell-out” quickly.  0 spots remain

Tree planting events are great for families and all ages are welcome. To ensure we operate within State and CDC guidelines, we are requiring a registration form for each volunteer, regardless of age. We cannot accept walk-up volunteers at the event. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer groups of 10 or more, please contact the events director, Zack Agerton to determine if there is enough capacity.

Events are held rain or shine. Details of the event will be emailed to registered volunteers the week of the event.

Deadline to register to volunteer is Sunday, September 27.
