Original photos of this large tree show a metal bucket nailed onto the side at chest level. This was a typical method of collecting sap, a practice usually done with pine varieties. Not much is known about the history of this Post Oak, but a piece of wood in which the bucket would have been nailed to is still present. The tree stands just off the right side of the Hoyt Hinson Trail.
