#034 Chinkapin Oak (Quercus muehlenbergii)

First measured in 1991, this tree had an impressive 33-inch diameter. It is located on the bank of a creek and is incredibly difficult to re-measure today. It features a double trunk. The Chinkapin Oak is a stately Oak variety that features oblong, coarsely toothed leaves. Leaves are 4.5 to 6 inches long. It features 1-inch acorns that are favored by Charlotte wildlife.
