Little is known about the history of this tree, it achieved Treasure Tree status in 1994. It has since been removed. Mimosa trees are common around Charlotte, they flower all summer long until November. However, they are invasive and spread through root suckers and abundant seeds. They have a short life span and have a high susceptibility to disease.
