Raintree NeighborWoods

November 14, 2020, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

While TreesCharlotte strives to celebrate, expand, and protect the tree canopy in Charlotte, we also want to protect the health of our supporters, volunteers, and partners from risks associated with COVID-19.  We appreciate your continued interest even in these difficult times. Please read through our new event protocols here before registering.

Having completed a NeighborWoods Application, TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Raintree neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas, thanks to generous support from Adhesion Wealth

In addition, we are offering early registration to all Raintree residents for the South Charlotte Zip Code TreeStore! We are hosting a drive-thru TreeStore on Sat, Nov 14, for residents to pick up and plant trees in their own yards. Registration opens to the public on Nov 6, but because of our partnership, we are opening registration a few days early to Raintree residents.

What a great way to add more shade and beauty to your neighborhood.  Volunteers interested in planting, please scroll down for details.

Raintree residents, here’s what you need to know:

  • Each Raintree address/household can get up to 2 trees. While the registration form does not limit the total number of trees, households requesting more than 2 trees will be notified and removed.
  • You must pre-register for the trees. Registration opens at 10am Monday, Nov 2 (link will be shared with residents through neighborhood channels) and closes at 11:59pm Wednesday, Nov 4
  • This will be a largely drive-through event to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and bags of mulch. Neighbors are encouraged to work together to pick up multiple orders with one vehicle.
  • To respect guidelines around large gatherings and to limit the number of registrants on-site at any one time, we are implementing staggered pick up times.  On the registration form, you will choose a time-frame to pick up your tree.   You must pick up your trees/mulch at some point during your chosen time-frame.  Trees not picked up will be forfeited and placed back into inventory.
  • About the trees: The trees are in 3 or 5-gallon containers, measure 6-10 feet tall, and weigh about 15-20 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag. Links are provided below to learn more about each species available; please do your homework first to ensure you’re putting the right tree in the right place.  Once registered, your selections are final.
  • TreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select. Tree planting is not provided.

You’ll be able to choose from the following trees when you register. Be sure to research which tree will work best for your yard before registering.  Quantities are limited. Register early to ensure the best selection. Selections are final and once registered, cannot be changed.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are recruiting 50 volunteers and 10 TreeMasters to help plant trees in the common areas the morning of Nov 14. 40 spots remain and we now have all the TreeMasters we need!

Tree planting events are great for families and all ages are welcome. To ensure we operate within State and CDC guidelines, we are requiring a registration form for each volunteer, regardless of age. We cannot accept walk-up volunteers at the event. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer groups of 10 or more, please contact the events director, Zack Agerton to determine if there is enough capacity.

Events are held rain or shine.  Details of the event will be emailed to registered volunteers the week of the event.

Deadline to register to volunteer is Sunday, November 8.
