Paw Creek Village NeighborWoods

March 14, 2020

Having completed a NeighborWoods Application and thanks to the genorsity of Wells Fargo, TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Paw Creek Village neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas and to provide trees to their residents.  Residents are invited to enjoy coffee and donuts, talk to our tree experts about the right trees for their yard, take a 15-minute tree-planting clinic, and bring home up to 3 trees!

All residents must pre-register for trees by March 9th. You can do so HERE

The tree give-a-away portion of the day will run from 9:00-10:00am.

Location: Due to lack of space in the neighborhood, we will be hosting the give-a-away at Thrift Baptist Church (8415 Moores Chapel Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214)

The trees: Tentative species list is yet to be determined. Once confirmed, a list of species will be emailed to registrants.  (Trees are a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance)

Tree specs: 5-10 feet tall, 1-inch caliper, aged 2-4 years old, potted in 7-gallon containers. Trees would retail for $75-$150.

Tree clinic: Every recipient will attend a tree-planting clinic the morning of the event (15 minutes) and sign a stewardship pledge.

Children Activities: Our friends from the North Carolina Wildlife Federation will be there to provided hands-on educational activities for children! We would like to invite all residents even if you are not planning on getting a tree.

Registration: Registration is required. If you register, please make every effort to pick up trees on the morning of March 14 or arrange for somebody to pick them up for you. Registration does not guarantee species; all trees are first-come, first-served the morning of the event.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Volunteers and TreeMasters are needed to help plant trees for residents unable to do so and to help with tree and mulch distribution. The tree planting portion of this event will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 am.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable event, we are limiting the number of volunteers to 40 for this TreeDay. Register early as our events “sell out” quickly.  15 spots remain

Tree planting events are great for families and everyone is welcome. To ensure accurate active volunteer counts, please list all participants on the registration form, along with children’s ages. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

We are still looking for TreeMasters for this event!
