Meet TreesCharlotte: Environmental Justice Forum

November 2, 2019, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Free

Join Myers Park Baptist Church in Heaton Hall for a youth-led environmental justice forum, featuring Mari Copeny, popularly known as ‘Little Miss Flint.’ In early 2016, then 8- year-old from Flint, Michigan wrote a letter to President Obama, describing the unending plight of her community, who had been living with lead-contaminated water since 2014. Since then, Mari has partnered with the nonprofit Pack Your Back, has raised over $500,000 to support 25,000 children in Flint and beyond, and has given out over a million bottles of water. She now serves on the Kids Board of Directors of NYC-based KIDBOX, the first social mission-based kids style box.

Come hear what ‘Little Miss Flint’ and young activists from across Charlotte have to say about the ongoing crisis and how young people can get involved in justice movements around the country. TreesCharlotte will have a table at the event.

This event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Mia McClain, (mmcclain@myersparkbaptist.org).
