Feeling the pollen? Thank a tree

Okay, maybe you don’t want to thank a tree now, with all this pollen coating our cars, deck furniture and nostrils. Even we here at TreesCharlotte feel the pain – probably more so considering how much we’re hanging out with trees.

It’s the dark side of Charlotte being such a tree happy city. According to WedMD, these are the trees that emit much of the pollen that set off allergies:

• Aspen
• Beech
• Birch
• Box elder
• Cedar
• Cottonwood
• Elm
• Hickory
• Mountain elder
• Mulberry
• Oak
• Pecan
• Willow

Yep, we have a handful of those in Charlotte. Your best bet is to take your allergy meds, stay inside when you can, prune back any offending trees and just wait it out. Summer will soon be here and we’ll all be grateful for the shade these trees provide!
