#135 American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis)
Like many large sycamores, this huge specimen stands right on the north bank of the small creek that runs through the middle of Latta Park. This park was originally opened in 1891 through the vision of developer Edward Dilworth Latta. It was originally designed around Lake Forsythe, which can be seen through the terraced slopes of the park that lead down to the creek.
